Engaging charmer following an intelligent and witty working-class bloke (the wonderful James McAvoy) as he rubs elbows (and elbow patches) in 1985 with tweedy snobs at elite University of Bristol, where he searches for love and enlightenment. Rebecca Hall is delightful as a campus rabble rouser and Alice Eve is equally impressive as a brainy blonde for whom he falls. Director Tom Vaughan and screenwriter David Nicholls are both graduates of the same school depicted in the film.
