The Riverside, California-based extreme metal unit's eponymous fifth studio long-player sees Suicide Silence pivot from no-frills deathcore to boundary-testing art metal. Recorded live in the studio to analog tape with producer Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot), the nine-track set is nervy and chaotic, drawing from '90s nu metal, alt-rock, and death metal, while blazing a trail all its own. ~ James Christopher Monger
