Switch [Music from the Motion Picture] [2010]

The soundtrack for The Switch, a romantic comedy starring Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston, offers up an eclectic mix of old and new. Composer Alex Wurman (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, March of the Penguins) provides two of the 15 tracks, and his gentle acoustic-tinged reveries echo Rolfe Kent's exceptional work on director Alexander Payne's Sideways. Elsewhere, The Switch lives up to its name, dialing in everything from from disco (Dan Hartman's "Instant Replay") to R&B ("Little L" by Jamiroquai) to sunny electronic indie pop (Bibio's lovely "Lovers' Carvings"), resulting in one of the better casual listening soundtracks of 2010. ~ James Christopher Monger
