EMI's To the Best Mum in the World... Ever! follows in the footsteps of previous compilations like Dad Rocks!, where the compilers turn late-night MP3 mixes that conform (very loosely) to a (mostly familial) theme into budget-price nostalgia bombs aimed at the wallets of lazy kids on Mother's or Father's Day. That said, they're usually pretty entertaining, and Best Mum in the World is no exception. Spanning pop history from Sinatra to the Spice Girls, it's hard to argue with the dumb fun of it all, even if was probably generated by inserting the word "mom" into a music search engine. ~ James Christopher Monger
