Filmmakers changed the name of the film from "Looters" to "Trespass" after the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, because they worried that the original title would provoke controversy.
Loosely based on John Huston's 1948 classic "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," which starred Humphrey Bogart.
Filmed in DeLuxe color in Atlanta and Memphis (which were used to simulate the East St. Louis setting).
