Vampires Suck [Original Soundtrack]

The soundtrack for Vampire's Suck, a 2010 spoof of vampire films (specifically the Twilight series) from the makers of the 300 spoof Meet the Spartans) is (believe it or not) a spoof. The collection shows promise early on, with opener "My Panties" (credited to Magicwandos, one of dozen fictional bands). Using Radiohead's "Optimistic" as its foundation and lyrics like "I feel so lonely/nobody gets me/I am so unhappy", it appropriately reduces the emo/goth-metal/sad jams that populate most modern, supernatural beings-meets-teen angst films to the empty cries for help they really are, but what follows sounds more like a drunken, weekend, garageband project with a little money behind it. ~ James Christopher Monger
