Steve Earle has always been Steve Earle, but following his more rock-oriented country albums from the 1980s (and his consequent imprisonment for various drug offenses), Earle signed with Warner Bros. in the mid-'90s and released a trio of albums on the label that broadened, deepened, and rounded out his roots-based sound. This set collects all three of those albums (1995's Train a Comin', 1996's I Feel Alright, and 1997's El Corazon) in a single box, along with the previously unreleased concert album Live at the Polk Theater from 1995 and a DVD, To Hell and Back, from a concert Earle gave at the Cold Creek Correctional Facility in Tennessee in 1996.
