When his mother contracts a terminal illness, a young boy named Gunner turns to his science fiction books in search of alternative healing methods. It is then that he encounters tales of the Water Man, and with the help of his feisty friend Jo, Gunner embarks on a mission to an unusual forest to seek the Water Man's help.
