Twenty-six years after the iconic American punk band Black Flag broke up, founder, guitarist, and sole constant member Greg Ginn has resurrected the group, reuniting with vocalist Ron Reyes (who sang on 1980's Jealous Again) to cut a new album of original material. What The... features 22 songs, shorts burst of angry energy in the tradition of the songs that first made Black Flag's name, with Ginn showing off the angular guitar solos that made him one of the most influential guitarist in hardcore punk. The new lineup also features Gregory Amoore, who has worked with Ginn on many of his solo projects, as well as Dale Nixon on bass, better known to fans as Ginn's alias when playing the four-string. Selections include "The Chase," "Wallow in Despair," "My Heart's Pumping," "The Bitter End," "This Is Hell," and many more. ~ Mark Deming
