Women Without Men

Their country in turmoil, five Iranian women struggle to find their place in a male-dominated society in 1953 in this visually stunning magic-realism drama. Housewife Fakhri (Arita Shahrzad) is locked in a loveless marriage. Meanwhile, Munis follows the news with rapt attention, and Faezeh does her best to impress Munis' traditionalist brother. Elsewhere in the city, Zarin sells her body on the street, and Mahdokht wrestles with deep-rooted shame over losing her virginity.
