Coming-of-age Best Picture nominee is based on Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' Pulitzer Prize-winning novel about impoverished backwoods farmers in 1878 Florida, where the young son takes it upon himself to care for an orphaned fawn, but the animal's wild nature forces the boy to make a most difficult decision.
