YELLOW SUBMARINE (WITH BOOKLET)

The Beatles' Yellow Submarine DVD by MGM is an example of a disc that does not need special features to be a must for any home video collection. Just having this tongue-in-cheek animated film on DVD, restored to its original eye-popping, colorful brilliance as it is in this widescreen version, is reason enough to book passage on the Yellow Submarine. When this visual splendor is combined with the disc's newly remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack that sends concert hall-quality sound ringing from your television speakers, it's hard to find a reason not to own this DVD. But MGM has packed the disc with special features anyway, including an audio commentary by production supervisor John Coates, a superb isolated music score, and "The Mad Odyssey," an irreverent behind-the-scenes featurette that is guaranteed to make you nostalgic for the 1960s.
